Renovation progress report – week 21

December 30, 2010 by Kim Woodward

So, we may have missed the renovation progress report last week. Can we blame the holidays?

Okay, then.

The good news is Ryan is IN THE HOUSE. Can I get a ‘what, what?’

That means that reno is back in action. Can I get a ‘what, what?’

To bring us up to speed, here’s the new glass in the door from week 19.

And, the holes in the wall from insulation in week 18.

The holes make me a little sad because it’s going to be a lot of work to get them all fixed up. Oh well, it’s good to have an insulated home.

Despite the holidays, Ryan has been working hard on the house. We have the week off work, so he’s making the most of it. He’s working to get all the walls boxed in and ready to finish.

Like in the area in the extra bedroom where the ductwork runs to the attic.

And the pantry. Having a pantry makes me giddy and excited. It has a light, people. I HAVE A PANTRY WITH A LIGHT!

The kitchen really is coming along nicely.

Ryan’s also working on boxing in the area by the fireplace, which will include a built-in bookcase spanning the wall. (Check out Sara’s wall for one of my inspirations.) Be still my heart.

He’s also finished wiring the lighting in the upstairs bathroom.

(That is the vanity we’ll use. But, it will have a new counter and will be in a different spot. It’s just hanging out there for the time being.)

What do you think of the floor? Kind of construction chic?

Do you spot that overhead light? That’s my precious little baby from our Minnesota jaunt to Gilded Salvage.

It’s so shiny and beautiful. When it was hung, I may have sung “Hey, lighty, you’re so fine, you’re so fine you blow my mind. HEY LIGHTY! Yeah, yeah. HEY LIGHTY! WOO!” Over. And over. With a little dance action.

Now we’re just waiting on these little beauties to hang on the wall. *Swoon*

I think I’ve decided on this wall-mount medicine cabinet.

For today. Ask me tomorrow and it could have changed. I change my mind up until the moment I hit complete transaction. Then, it’s over.

So, that’s this week. We’re rollin’… Ryan hoping to have the upstairs bedroom ready to paint this weekend. I’m getting my paintbrush ready. Hopefully I still remember how to do it. I think it’s kind of like riding a bike.

House list is updated.

What do you think?

Oh, I can just see it all staring to come together… I am totally loving the lights for the bathroom. I think you should leave the walls just like they are… Awesome. lol

I am officially jealous of that pantry. It is one of the things that we could just not fit in our kitchen without getting all new cabinets which was not in the ole budget so I am still stuck with a large cabinet. So now every time I curse how small it is I will think of you and that light.

Awesome progress on the house….it looks like you guys made the most of every vacation day!

busy, busy- nice work. I would be so upset about all the holes in the walls. But the glass door rocks, as does the light. And the pantry…..holy cow- it looks huge. Can’t wait to see what you do with.

Oooh, I love the fixtures you’re choosing! Hey Lighty!! 🙂 And I’m super jealous of your pantry with a light – all I have is a converted water heater closet with NO light. Lucky duck!!

Oooooo, jealous. I want a pantry. Maybe I can convince the hubs to buy me a new house so we can create a pantry. Right?? Wish me luck. ; )

PS: Definitely construction chic. I like it. It’s a good look.

Yay, Thursdays are back! 🙂 I love your reports. You guys are accomplishing so much. I am seriously jealous of those little sconces you are putting in, and I am trying to think of an area in the basement we could use them. 🙂

[…] So, when I was searching for light fixtures for the bath, we talked about finding something made in the U.S. and with a vintage feel. I ended up narrowing the search down to Rejuvenation, Schoolhouse Electric Co. and Barn Light Electric. All tout the fact that their fixtures are high quality and American-made. I read lots of good reviews about all three companies. So, I ended up finding great looking sconces from Barn Light Electric as mentioned in our last bathroom post. […]
