Renovation progress report – week 19

December 16, 2010 by Kim Woodward

Well, you all overwhelmed me yesterday with your kindness about my dad’s surgery.

He made it through and is doing better. We hope he’ll make it out of ICU today and to the heart floor for recovery. In other words, prayer and positivity work. Thank you.

In week 19, we were pretty busy with, you know, renovating a very important heart.

Besides that, we had the glass replaced on the front door. This means we can get rid of this horrendous screen door that we kept up to protect the broken glass.

Here’s the u-g-l-y before. The ugliest part is the horrible storm door. Ugh. Makes me feel dirty.

But the original door is still there, and it’s quite pretty. Totally solid. And it’s a HUGE size and super tall. But the glass was broken in two panes. So, we decided to just replace the glass with shatterproof glass. Unfortunately, a previous owner treated the door poorly and built the storm door around it to fit. (You can see at the top where the door isn’t even with the storm door.)

I’ll share photos soon. I know you understand.

Thanks, friends.

That door is lovely! I love the detail and large size. Should make move-in easier.

It is a lovely door! It’s really going to shine when you get everything all spiffed up. Are you planning on taking off the shutters around the door?

I’m happy to hear the surgery went well! Still sending prayers and positive thoughts your way!

I’m very intrigued by your plan to replace the glass in your door with shatter proof glass. I’ve been trying to convince my husband that’s the route we should go with for our doors since he’s convinced we should get a storm door for protection. I’d hate to cover our door with a storm door if I can help it!
