What do you get when you are 7 1/2 months pregnant (read: tired and large) and need a fabulous crib skirt for your nursery in the shortest amount of time possible (read: before you need a nap and a glass of warm milk)?
You grab an extra navy flat twin sheet that you don’t need and make yourself a stellar crib skirt on the cheap.
Mmmmmmhm. Cute, right?
I found some inspiration online and convinced myself I could do it on my own. I was inspired by the crib sheet made by Rachel at the Atwoods (who, coincidentally, is awesome and also having a baby boy in June).
The skirt is simply three panels sewn to length for each side and tied to the wire box spring area on the crib, like so. (I simply sewed the ribbons to the top of the panel.

I adore the double white stripe all around the bottom! It suits the crib bedding perfectly! Way to go, mama!
And the ribbon attachments look very user friendly. Clever!
I love the skirt. I wish I had seen this neat idea when I was putting together my new little ones room.
Awesome job. I love how the white pops!
Damn, that is amazing. Almost too easy – I’m sure I would mess it up somehow…oh yeah, I’d mess it up by not being able to sew! ha
I love it with the dotty sheet. So cute!
I do love! We should do lunch before you turn into a crazy mom person that doesn’t have time for her non-mom friends. 😉
i love it! plus who doesn’t love a stripe with polka dots?!
I DO love it! Good job!
I love, I love! I especially love the little ties! Our crib skirt is one big piece and it slides around all over the place. I think I’m jealous.
You are a genius! I would have never thought to use a flat sheet! I love the added touch with the white ribbon too – it looks amazing! And thanks for linking to our crib skirt 🙂
So cute! You are awesome! I would not be doing this much stuff at this stage in pregnancy! Way to go Super Woman!
Your nursery is so awesome – love the navy & white. And you are a resourceful mama for repurposing an old sheet! The white stripes on the bottom are great.
I still have yet to finish Lil’s crib skirt and she’s 10 months old. Not that she sleeps in the crib anyways… 😉
Wow, it looks great!
It’s absolutely perfect, Kim. I love the grosgrain ribbon – and from an extra sheet? Smart! Also, when you pinned a similar tutorial using masking tape to hold up the crib skirt, I totally stole that idea for McKiddle’s crib skirt and it worked like a charm – I sewed T’s crib skirt on a deck like all the patterns tell you too, and as soon as we moved the mattress it puddled on the floor of a year. So thanks friend!
Love, love love! Love the stripes and polka dots mixed!
When you’re that far along, you get points for even getting out of bed in the morning!!!
I LOVE it!! 🙂 And it totally doesn’t look lazy!
The ribbon idea is GENIUS. I used duct tape, but this is much more adjustable! 🙂
Awesome! I so love the whole color scheme with the crisp white against the navy. Such a lucky little guy!
