Renovation progress report – week 17

December 2, 2010 by Kim Woodward

Well… this week was better than last. Although it couldn’t have been much worse.

Ryan is going to be traveling for work throughout December, so I’m not sure what renovation progress reports will look like for the next three weeks. I’m optimistic that a few things can get done, but I’m not holding my breath.

Before he leaves, there were a few things he wanted to wrap up – drywall on exterior walls, finishing trim on the garage and closing in the back yard with a gate and fence on the back side.

He completed it all. (He’s the best, isn’t he?)

The drywall on all the exterior walls is all completed.

We’re very thankful that Ryan’s buddy, Joey, came over a couple times during the holiday weekend to help. It’s good to have an extra hand or two.

I know Joey was hoping to make the blog. (And he’s available, ladies.)
This one’s not.
The bathroom now has drywall as well. The bottom half will have beadboard eventually. And eventually there will be a floor. A really pretty hexagon tile floor, if I don’t change my mind.

Now that exterior walls are closed in, we can get the house insulated. Our energy company offers rebates up to $700, so we will have the insulation done by a professional. The rebate expires on December 31 so we finished not a moment too soon. (Cutting it close.)

I’m really happy we’re not doing the insulation ourselves. We blew insulation in our current house and it wasn’t fun. And we may or may not have blown too much in the upstairs and ended up filling up the eaves and the upstairs bathroom with insulation.
That was fun to clean up.
Oops. That’s what you call a renovation FAIL.
They will blow in the insulation from the interior this time. And, hopefully it will be a little less clean-up. Or, no clean-up.

So, that’s what went down at the house this week.

House list updated.

Awe Joey is cute. I’m impressed with Ryan’s speed. Dry walling is my least favorite task.

Drywall has never looked so sexxay.

DUDE, rebates are the ish. The hubs are I are looking into the cost of certain renovations, and I can’t get over how much PECO is willing to give back. BOOO YAAA
