Yes I can - salsa

>> Wednesday, August 25, 2010

You know I had to do it. First, Jenny makes zesty salsa. Then, Sara. Ryan loves salsa, so I had to try the zesty salsa from Ball's Complete Guide to Home Preservation.

And, it didn't disappoint. Check out the recipe at Anything Perfect. Or get the book. I made 9 pints, which should last us a week or so. ;)

On the canning agenda:
Pizza sauce
Pickles
Pickled zucchini
Salsa
Tomatoes
Pepper jam
Pickled yellow peppers
Zucchini salsa (thanks to
Amber Waves of Grain, this was added to my list)
Jam
Preserves

We did a salsa tasting during a class at the market one year. Five different kinds of salsa including zucchini, green tomato and the zesty salsa. Zesty salsa won hands down.

Good choice but .... yea, you only made enough for a week!!! :)

I'm not a salsa fan, something about the soupy yet chunky texture and I'm not a big fan of spices. But John always has an open jar, maybe I should try this (you know when I have a kitchen) to save a few bucks.

Yum! Did you grow everything? Our garden failed miserably this year, so I may have to suck it up and buy stuff from the store!

We made the Zesty too Kim....it's awesome. My husband is a total salsa aficianado and he LOVES it. We made it pretty spicy (left all the seeds and veins)....how did you do yours? We've been through three pints already. ;-) Better make more.

Mmm...I love salsa and it would last about that long in my house too. You're doing such a great job with your canning and new house repair!

Isn't it delicious? And that pile of peppers...wow. Are those all from your garden? I am thinking I need to make some more because we are plowing through it.

Please comment on Kim and Ryan's blog! Every time you do, an angel gets it's wings.

Okay, maybe not. But, Kim usually gets a big smile on her face and says, "They like me, they really like me."
