Goals - how'd I do?

>> Friday, April 30, 2010

April.... oh April. You arrived and then snuck away like a thief in the night. (Do I sound poetic? It's probably the bottle of wine.) This month went by too quickly. I'm actually a little disappointed in my progress for the month, but understand that everything cannot be March. So, I guess I did okay. And, I'm grading myself liberally. Because it's my blog. Bwahahaha.

The Wife's April Goals

Fun
Read 2 books. I read three books - The Kite Runner (if you haven't read this, you must), The American Wife and Olive Kitteridge.
Take a class. I'm sure I meant this as a creative, non-MBA class. But, I finished one MBA class and began another. So, I'm giving myself credit. Are you upset by this? Take it up with the editor. (Hint: the editor is me).
Go to IKEA. Despite the fact that IKEA is an evil temptress for me, I actually visited 2 IKEAs. One in Phoenix and one in Chicago.
Get some Vitamin D in Arizona. Oh yeah, baby. (PSA: Don't say this phrase in an elevator at your corporate job. Doesn't go over well. Hypothetically.)
Practice with camera. Next month?
Take a hike. Love Arizona.

DIYing/Crafting:
Finish granny squares project. What? Let's just pretend this didn't happen.
Sew something new. Nope. But, May is the month of sewing projects.
Make fabric flowers. See above.

Gardening:
Prepare garden. Yeppers.
Add mulch. I'm getting giddy from the wood scent.
Add compost.
Weed.
Restrain from buying annuals. Not a single petunia, folks. Can I get a round of applause?

Home:
Kitchen organization.
Clean the windows.
Garage purge and clean.
Organize closet. YES! I love a clean closet.
Paint something. Hello, beautiful.
Stain front porch.
Stain deck.

Cooking:
Make a new recipe. It was unsuccessful, but new.

Wellness:
Weights and cardio 3 days a week. I'm being liberal. It was probably not 3 days, but definitely an improvement. And, close to 3 days.
Jog at least once a week. hehehe... jog?
Strive to eat at least 3 fruit and 4 veggie servings/day. I did strive.
Do not eat in car. I ate in my car exactly 2 times, which is better than the 3 times a week I was averaging.
So I'm calling it success. You cannot go cold turkey, folks.

So, this was a little ugly, huh?

U are too cute! I think you did a good job! That is a lot to accomplish in a month!

Cindy @The Flipping Couple April 30, 2010 9:15 AM

Kim, I think if we met IRL I would love you even more than I love you on your blog. Your snarky remarks to yourself are cracking me up! Congrats on a lot of goals accomplished. And April did totally sneak away much too soon. Yikes.

Rita/Fighting Off Frumpy April 30, 2010 9:28 AM

I think you did great! And I agree that April was here and then gone ... I don't know what I was doing the whole time, but it obviously wasn't anything noteworthy!

Emily April 30, 2010 10:02 AM

You and your goal achieving ways make me feel inferior every month :). But I'm okay with it, because right now I'm just content to spend every free moment on the couch - so really, am I expecting to make great strides?

Can't wait to see what you accomplish in May! (I notice IKEA is missing from May...)

April snuck away from me too - but May is another story, right!

April flew by, I don't think I had a single weekend without guests! I want to know how you manage to read so many books and take grad classes.

Emily @ Longley's in San Diego May 1, 2010 12:30 AM

Awesome job on the month of April! I don't own a home, but I do know that cleaning the windows, and staining the deck are never fun!! Although it all looks so amazing when it's done :)
Good luck on may.

Yay for goals! If I didn't make them, I wonder if I would get ANYTHING done.

Thanks for all your encouragement!

April went by so fast.....I am so impressed that you got anything at all accomplished. I am worried that May go even more quickly!

Please comment on Kim and Ryan's blog! Every time you do, an angel gets it's wings.

Okay, maybe not. But, Kim usually gets a big smile on her face and says, "They like me, they really like me."
