Halloweens past

I like holidays. I cannot help it. I think it runs in my veins. So, it's natural that I enjoy Halloween. I wouldn't say it's my favorite holiday, it's still mighty fun and allows me to eat sweets without judgement and dress up the pugs. (More on that later.) And, the fact that I can smother pumpkin seeds in butter and salt doesn't hurt.
Ryan isn't really such a fan of Halloween (or any holiday), but he humors me.

So, in honor of Halloween, I thought I would share a selection of Halloween photos of holidays past.
And, again... (2005).
You can check out last year's festivities here. We stepped up the pumpkins a notch last year.
As you can see, I consistently carve a better pumpkin. ;)
Now.... let's move on to the real reason that holidays exist - dressing up the pugs and humiliating my husband.
Franco's first Halloween costume. He won a costume contest in this costume. He didn't mind the body, but hated the hat. (I cannot imagine why.)
Last year, the pugs stuck to a Chicago Bears theme. Franco was a football player and Lola was a cheerleader. Clearly - they should have won the costume contest, but they were completely ripped off. I'm fairly certain the judges were paid off. Darn you, Petco.
This year, I decided to use costumes from the past. No need to order a custom-fitted cheerleading uniform for a pug (because I've never done that).
So, Franco will go as a gentleman.

Lola is going to be a ballerina in the tutu made by Lauren.

We are planning a low-key Halloween weekend. Carving pumpkins, staying warm and hopefully giving candy to a few Trick-or-Treaters.
Oh... and eating myself silly and making myself sick on pumpkin seeds, of course.
What are your plans for Halloween?

12 people have something to say:
Oh my, a gentleman! Haha, I love it! Is there a tiny pug cane included in that costume? Or a little monacle?
I think it's obvious I think tomorrow is the greatest day of the year. We've got a costume party tonight, then another one tomorrow but I'm staying home long enough to give out candy...1st time in my new house, I'm pretty excited! Luckly I bought a HUGE box of Fun Dip so that if we don't get any trick-or-treaters, I'll be on a sugar high til February.
We have a pug too. I've always had this secret wish to dress him like the dog from Men in Black.
Happy Halloween!
Omigosh look at baby Kim. I love it. And the pugs look quite dapper all dressed up. I love Halloween too, but we forgot to carve our pumpkins this year (we had a lot going on)...maybe we'll do it quickly tomorrow? We usually hand out candy to the loads of children in our neighborhood and hunker down, but since it's a weekend this year the pressure's on to go out. We're undecided.
The gentlemen costume is so cute. Have a Happy Halloween.
I want dogs just for Halloween..how fun is that?? I love pugs and yours are way too sweet here!!!
The gentleman's costume is adorable!!! I put an angel halo on our Pomeranian one year. This is the first year our girls will get to ToT. My 3 1/2 year old is going to be Tinkerbell and my 1 1/2 year old will be Tiger Lily (the Indian princess from Peter Pan). They've even been practicing Trick or Treating in the house...so cute. Have a wonderful weekend! :)
Oh those are cute :) I always love the emails with all the dogs dressed up. Some people go ALL out and it's great! My little Cockapoo was Frankenstein one year, not sure what happened to that costume.
As for us, we'll be carving our pumpkins tonight, also making up some pumpkin seed goodness, the fiance's parents are coming down tomorrow to see our new house for the first time (they've been out of the state for two months!) and then we'll hand out candy, hopefully, to all the kids who come by. Since we only moved in two weeks ago we have no idea what kind of turnout we'll have.
Happy Halloween!
They will be so cute! I have no cute costumes for our boys...everytime I mentioned it I got "the look!" Love your pictures!! We are also doing low-key....maybe dinner and a movie at home while (hopefully) handing out treats to the neighborhood kids! I'm planning this weekend to try Ashlee's pumpkin-turkey meatloaf and some pumpkin-chocolate chip cookies!! Oh, and funfetti cupcakes, so lots of treats!!
I was looking thru pics tonite and ran across one of you and Kyle dressed up for Halloween when you were 2 and 4 years old and 3 and 5years old. OMG...they were so cute and brought back wonderful memories of you when you were small. Halloween is a very fun holiday and a great time to create fantastic memories!
halloween has come & gone here in guam :) andrew did a pub crawl with a friend - one of my gal pals came over to help hand out candy to all the kiddos who live on base. we had a blast!
i love your pugs!
So cute! I would totally dress up my cat if I wasn't worried about that whole "crazy cat lady" label. We're going out to a party and dressing up as Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum. Should be fun. We'll "make it work" ;)
