DIY elevated doggie bowls

>> Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Ryan and I have been talking about building something to raise the doggie bowls in the kitchen for a while.

The dogs get water EVERYWHERE when they drink, and we hoped that having the bowl raised would help. We also find that the bowls get scattered around everywhere and this would keep them in one place.

Ryan had looked online for inspiration, and then he went at it. It took hardly any time at all - and he had this. (I'm a lucky girl.)
Then, I brushed on a few coats of white paint and Ryan added holes for the bowls.
Franco and Lola seem to like it, and I love that it looks much neater. Plus, it seems that less water gets slobbered throughout the kitchen.
It's a similar (almost exact) replica to the bench Ryan built for the front porch. And, since similar elevated bowls are selling for $50-$150 on Etsy and other online sources, I'm thrilled.

What do you think?

Funny you should post this--I was trying to convince my husband to make something similar for our dog...though it'd have to be a large one since we have a Golden ;) Yours turned out great!

Love it - this is on my list. I saw a beadboard elevated feeder last year sometime and have been meaning to tackle it ever since. Casco bolts his food - I think elevating it would help that...maybe. Ryan did such a great job. Look at you crafters!

I love it! To me dog bowls are not at all attractive but this gives a great look and makes it "fit". Great idea.

Dog bowls look wonderful. And look at that spotless rug underneath it. You really did clean, didn't ya?

I think you two should go into business selling these! $50-$150? You guys could totally retire. :-)

Please tell Ryan I will be sendig him measurements for Hiro's elevated doggie bowls (think "small bear").

It's only fair, since you sent my name into that Intervention show and everything. =]

Please comment on Kim and Ryan's blog! Every time you do, an angel gets it's wings.

Okay, maybe not. But, Kim usually gets a big smile on her face and says, "They like me, they really like me."
