The china cabinet update

>> Friday, March 20, 2009

Well, it's time to show you our latest project - the china cabinet.

I painted and Ryan attached the hardware that needed re-fit.
Here's a little closer view of the hardware (and a showcase of my photography skills).

To remind you, it looked like this before.
So, I like it a lot more. Although, I'm completely at a loss of what to fill it with. I have these pretty white serving pieces, but it looks really sparse.

Do you think Eddie Ross would be willing to fly to western Illinois to help me out?

No? That was what I thought.

Any ideas?

It looks fabulous! And I love it sparse (but I'm a sparse kind of girl). Love the idea of just white things in there - it might give you your black and white feel from yesterday without needing white furniture. I'm jealous that you even have a real hutch.

It looks great Kim, I love it.

It looks great! I'm especially fond of the new hardware. As far as what to put in, I like the black with white items inside. I think maybe if you could prop up some of the white serving pieces so we see more white on black, it would work really well.

Its looks fab..I wish I had your courage to just paint things I want painted...and I wish hubby was as nice about it as Ryan :)

OMG LOVE IT!!! Great job! I am no expert, but in my cabinet I just bought those "display" brackets and put all platters and plates upright on those. Filled the space!

Kim, your hutch looks great! I love the "sparse" look myself. Especially the white dishes against the black. Good job!

It looks awesome! You're so lucky, I've been dying for a china cabinet! And I agree with the above comments, I actually like the black cabinet with the white china inside. Less is more.

You are SO good. It would take me at least a couple of years just to go and buy the paint if I took on such a project! Looks so nice with the table : )

You all know how to make a girl feel good.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I am going to take your advice and stick with the white accents inside. And, I may even try to keep it sparse. =)

The cabinet looks O-so-AWESOME!!! What a great job y'all did, I am super impressed. I was looking at the post below, the last picture of the black bookcase...I bet you could make the inside of your cabinet look similar to that bookcase that you like (the stuff to fill it with...) Just a thought...keep up the DIY!! Oh, and thanks for all your sweet comments. Hopefully when we get settled I'll read everyone else's blog more. I am adding you to my blogroll...let me know if it's not ok! Ciao!

That is one sleek hutch! Oh, Kim, you do have a way w/ a paint brush =) I agree w/ the others, keep it simple w/ white milk glass and white display pieces. Very Eddie Ross!

It looks amazing. I would pick out some random pieces that matches your room's theme.

Please comment on Kim and Ryan's blog! Every time you do, an angel gets it's wings.

Okay, maybe not. But, Kim usually gets a big smile on her face and says, "They like me, they really like me."
