Twilight Book Review
>> Wednesday, February 25, 2009
Well... during our trip (mostly on the way home), I jumped on the Twilight bandwagon. It's totally addicting.
Twilight by Stephenie MeyerMy review
rating: 5 of 5 stars
I really didn't have any interest in this book when I first heard the buzz around it. Vampires? Teen lit? No thanks.
But, I'm hooked now. I'm embarrassed about how much I loved this book. But, not quite embarrassed enough to tell you.
Somehow, the author draws you in from the first page. I don't know how. I cannot put my finger on it. But, she does. Maybe it is partially that she vividly describes details of surroundings (although not as much the characters). I found it so engaging to be able to really see the scenes. Maybe it's because it's a different type of love story - with lust, obsession and even hatred at times. Maybe it's that you know something is coming... and you are just waiting. Whatever it is, it works.
And, from the beginning, I couldn't put the book down. I read the entirety of the first book in 24 hours, while traveling. I think this is a great book for travel time, because it goes quickly.
While the book is long, it is a quick read. I've not been this "into" a book... well... ever?
I laughed and cried. I talked to friends about my thoughts and feelings. I fought with myself about whether I loved or hated Edward (sorry, gals... I'm not quite past disdain towards him, no matter how gorgeous and romantic he is).
All in all, this book is a must-read, in my opinion. It draws you in, engages you throughout, and ends making you immediately rush for the next book in the series. Is it irrational? Unrealistic? Embarrassing? Sure... but I'm okay with that.

5 people have something to say:
I just jumped on the wagon too and I'm so addicted!!
I think that you will like Edward by the end of the books.....at least I hope you do!! Trust me keep reading...I'm actually counting down the days til the DVD comes out!!
Ali
Haha...I don't know what was worse for me. The fact that I was SO against liking this series, and then was addicted to it like crack "Had.To.Read.Next.Book.Now"!
or
The fact that I was almost in a depression when I finished the final book and realized there was nothing more for me to read.
It was bad....real bad.
Needless to say, my husband asked me to take my Twilight stack and hide it when we had open houses. haha
FYI (I HATED Edward in the second book...almost wanted to throw the damn book away)
I think you will like Edward by the end. I was addicted to it too. I actually went to three stores to find one of the books. George made fun of me because I read them in about a day or two.
I'm looking forward to seeing the movie.
I am so glad I'm not the only one!! :-) I so did not think this series was for me but my old roommate gave me her copy right before I left for Hong Kong and I had little else to read on the flight. I quickly became obsessed with the crazy teen saga! I read the second book on the flight home and nearly threw a fit when the O'Hare airport did not have the 3rd book...GASP!! Then school started up again and I was forced to break myself of reading for pleasure for awhile. I can't wait to finish the series and watch the movie!
