Christmas Traditions
>> Thursday, December 18, 2008
Since this is Ryan and I's first Christmas, we (I) are trying to start some traditions for our new family while continuing our family traditions.
So, I thought it would be good to share our current plans for the Newly Woodwards Christmas Traditions:
- Spending Christmas Eve at my grandpa's house (continued tradition).
- Spending Christmas Day at Ryan's parent's house (continued tradition).
- Hosting a day-after Christmas breakfast at our house (NEW).
- Finding an item/ornament during every trip we take to put on the Christmas tree (NEW). So far, we have ornaments from Kansas City, San Francisco and Memphis.
- Sending out Christmas cards to friends and family (NEW).
- Displaying all of our Christmas cards and picking a favorite after the holidays. I'm planning to send my favorite card giver a cheesy certificate in the mail to notify them of their prestigious win (NEW).
- Exchanging special ornaments with the Mr. for Christmas and dating them (NEW).
- Taking a post-Christmas weekend getaway for our anniversary (NEW).
- Recording all of our Christmas memories in a book (NEW).
- Going out on a Christmas date to dinner and seeing a holiday movie (NEW).
- Hosting our very own New Year's Eve party instead of having nothing to do (NEW).
Now, it's time for the tag. I'm tagging the following to tell me about your holiday traditions, new and old! I chose 12 traditions, but you can choose as few or as many as you'd like. Then tag a handful of people to share them. Start a revolution!!! =)
These are a few of my favorite blogs and folks I know will have fabulous tradition ideas that I want to know about.
Emily at Imperfect
For goodness sake, this girl made her own slipcover... and has the same dining room table as me. And, she has so much style, it's oozing out of her ears.
Freckles Chick
This girl has more house inspiration that I can handle.
Amber at Melmilee
My lovely and talented cousin and fabulous mama.
Carrie at Carrie's Little World
Cute lady, cute family, cute house - I just love this gal!
Laura at The Meckleys
I'm thankful for this new friend - in blogland and real life. She's super talented and always going 110 miles per hour.
Jennifer at This Girl Loves Pink
A real sweetheart - and one of the most faithful blog commentators I know.
Mrs. Dirnberger at Mrs. Dirnberger
A fun gal with a fun read - I'm sure she'll have some fun traditions to share.
Allison at Half of VAMH
One of my favorite and first blog reads. Her menu planning helps me with my non-menu planning. Like, when I see she's having baked chicken, I think, "That sounds good tonight."
My Journey Towards: The Glamorous Life of a Housewife
This girl has style and class. Her Christmas decorations gave me a tear in my eye. They are THAT beautiful.
Carrie at the Shannon Experience
You know that girl that you just wanna be like - classy, sweet and smart. Carrie is that girl.
Steph at Phanie in Florida
Not just a friend, but a fellow December bride, lovely gal and talented on-air personality.
Lauren at Mark + Lauren
My crafty friend who shares the best crafty inspiration. I really want to live next door to her and be besties.
Leah at Marital Bless
Just about the cutest pregnant gal I've seen. She's just spills over with sweetness.
Katie at Bower Power
Her kitchen and dining room make me literally drool - and I'm not embarrassed to admit it.
Now, go!
